Experience the Magic of Christmas in Killarney

“The prettiest picture you’ve ever seen” – Christmas in Killarney is awaiting its big opening parade this upcoming Saturday, November 29th. So, if you are ready to experience all the Christmas magic wrapped up in the overall charm of this lovely little town, now is the time to visit.

Christmas in Killarney

This season, there is something for everybody! Colourful parades, Santa’s grotto, Christmas Markets, Killarney on Ice and a number of great concerts at the Gleaneagles arena. While little ones may enjoy meeting Santa and watching a Cirque Staging of Wicked Wizard of Oz, older guests can look forward to live music, gourmet holiday treats, and dazzling decorations.

The Gleaneagles Arena has a great line-up of unforgettable evenings. From the party favourites such as The Tumbling Paddies and The Coronas, to a classic tranquillity by candlelight performance of Phil Coulter. To top everything off, closing out the season, An Exclusive Evening with Katie Taylor will take place on Friday, 9th January 2026. Olympic gold medallist will take to the stage in an intimate, unscripted live interview hosted by acclaimed sports broadcaster Steve Bunce.

Jaunting Car, Killarney National Park, Co KerryTouch of history

A not-so-secret gem of the season is the Mucross House. This historic landmark leaves everyone breathless at any given time. However, at the festive season, it comes with a little extra spark. Lovely decorations are put up to transform its timeless elegance into a warm, enchanting Christmas wonderland. A little hint for you:  just like everything in the house, the decorations in this house whisper stories of the past.

For an extra experience of the local traditions, jump on the jaunting car ride with Killarney Lake Tours. Traditional horse-drawn jaunting cars are a significant part of Killarney’s tourism industry. The local Tangney family, who have been delighting visitors for generations, run these tours of Killarney National Park. The “jarvey,” Billy, is well-known for his engaging storytelling and commentary as guests take in the beautiful lakes and mountains.
