Celebrating Killarney’s Heritage on Land and Water
Launched in 1986

Killarney’s Original Waterbus

Killarney’s original Waterbus, the MV Pride of the Lakes, was launched in 1986 by the O’Donoghue family. This covered marine vessel was the first of its kind, offering both locals and tourists a comfortable way to see the stunning sights of Lough Leane. The O’Donoghue family still owns and operates the boat, and it runs daily tours with panoramic views of Killarney’s largest lake. Guests from all over the world enjoy the onboard commentary and insights from Johnny and Frank, our long-time skippers.

Family-Owned & Locally Run

Keeping the tradition afloat for over 40 years

In addition to the waterbus, traditional horse-drawn jaunting cars are a significant part of Killarney’s tourism industry. The local Tangney family, who have been delighting visitors for generations, run these tours of Killarney National Park. The “jarvey,” or driver, Billy, is wellknown for his engaging storytelling and commentary as guests take in the beautiful lakes and mountains.
